Clinical picture, classification and general principles of treatment of intestinal dysbacteriosis

Symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of dysbiosis in adults and children

Intestinal dysbacteriosis is a common disease in which the quantity and quality of microflora changes. The symptoms of dysbacteriosis are quite specific - if you pay attention to them in time, you can quickly restore the functioning of the intestines. Treatment of chronic intestinal dysbacteriosis in adults and children can take several weeks. Before proceeding to therapeutic measures, it is necessary to find out the causes of dysbacteriosis in a newborn child and the degree of severity of the disease.

Classification of dysbiosis

There is a complex classification of this disease. First of all, dysbacteriosis is distinguished by origin:

  • weak dysbacteriosis in healthy people, caused by a violation of the diet and age-related changes;
  • dysbacteriosis accompanying pathologies of the digestive system: gastritis, diseases of the liver, gall bladder and ducts, malabsorption syndrome, intestinal pathologies;
  • against the background of general diseases - with reduced immunity, allergies, infectious diseases;
  • with long-term use of certain medicines (sulfanilamides, antibiotics).

Often the problem arises against the background of constant stress and strong emotions.

The following differentiation of dysbacteriosis is based on the severity of the course:

  1. The first is a decrease in the number of beneficial bacteria in the intestines by 1-2 orders of magnitude. There are no pronounced symptoms yet, but the patient may complain of frequent diarrhea and rare intestinal colic.
  2. The second - the number of cinnamon bacteria in the intestine decreases by 3-4 orders of magnitude. The place of beneficial bacteria is occupied by pathogenic microorganisms that provoke pain in the intestines, loose stools, and general weakness.
  3. Third – pathogenic microorganisms begin to multiply actively and release toxins, which leads to an increase in the intensity of symptoms.
  4. Fourth – a large amount of toxins produced by pathogenic microorganisms accumulates in the body. The work of almost all organs and systems is disrupted.

To understand the exact degree of severity in a particular patient, it is necessary to pass a stool analysis for dysbacteriosis. After receiving the results, you can proceed to treatment. The classification is conditional, often the degree of dysbacteriosis does not correspond to the patient's state of health. For example, with a mild course and the absence of pronounced symptoms, advanced dysbacteriosis can be diagnosed, and, conversely, with a severe course, the tests will show the presence of useful microorganisms in sufficient quantity.

Symptoms of dysbiosis

The disease has specific symptoms:

  • abdominal pain that occurs immediately after eating and lasts until the intestines are completely emptied;
  • increased gas production;
  • diarrhea (diarrhoea);
  • burp with an unpleasant taste, which appears regardless of eating.

Symptoms of dysbiosis in babies are different:

  • the child constantly cries and presses his legs to his stomach;
  • the baby may be bothered by constipation (diarrhea occurs extremely rarely);
  • the child's sleep is disturbed, she often screams and is fussy;
  • when massaging the tummy and applying a warm diaper to it, the child calms down, but not for long.

Treatment of dysbiosis in adults and children

If the disease is of mild or moderate severity, treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis at home. Doctors usually prescribe:

  • prebiotics;
  • bacteriophages;
  • probiotics.

If during the examination of the patient, pathogenic microorganisms were detected in large quantities, then the therapy will include antibacterial drugs. In this case, a remedy for dysbacteriosis must be selected after taking antibiotics to restore the intestinal microflora.

Medicines for dysbacteriosis should be prescribed by a doctor, especially if we are talking about newborns. It is extremely undesirable to prescribe antibacterial therapy to babies. In some cases, a consultation with a geneticist is required, since dysbiosis is often one of the symptoms of intrauterine infection.

In addition to drug treatment, a diet for dysbacteriosis is prescribed. Spicy, pickled, smoked and fried dishes are excluded from the diet. Of the fats, oil is recommended in small quantities. Adhering to a diet after the end of treatment will help to completely restore the quantitative and qualitative composition of the intestinal microflora.
