The causes of ring-shaped granulomas in children are unknown. Scientists think that cellular immune reactions of the fourth type and pathology of tissue monocytes take part in the formation of the disease. Periapical granulomas grow slowly. They can reach several centimeters in diameter. Usually, periapical granulomas do not present themselves with any symptoms. Only a secondary infection that has joined can provoke the development of pain.
Granuloma of the apex of the tooth root is a manifestation of apical periodontitis with the formation of granulation tissue. The main factor in the formation of a granuloma on the root of a tooth is a bacterial infection. A capsule of collagen fibers forms around the granuloma.
