At the initiative of Andrii Krutsko, Head of the "Urology and Onco-Urology Center LT", doctors from the "Dobrobut" medical network participated in the global "Movember" campaign throughout November to support early detection of prostate cancer. Not only urologists took part in the "mustache-growing" challenge, but also surgeons, endoscopists, oncologists, traumatologists, pediatric urologists, cardiologists, therapists, and even the network's administrative staff.
It wasn't just doctors—many friends, acquaintances, and patients who had received medical care at "Dobrobut" also supported the campaign and were spotted at the end of the month sporting mustaches they had never worn before.
The philosophy of this flash mob is to refrain from shaving one's mustache throughout November, drawing attention to this noticeable change in appearance. People around them ask, "Have you changed your style? Why did you stop shaving? It's unusual to see you with a mustache." Participants of the campaign respond with a simple yet powerful message:
"By not shaving, I demonstrate something basic and well-known—if you don’t shave your mustache, it will grow. It’s that simple! Unfortunately, the same principle applies to cancer—if you don’t monitor your health, malignant diseases can also grow unnoticed."
The Importance of Early Detection
This topic is particularly relevant today, as the incidence of malignant diseases continues to rise, and future trends are not optimistic. That is why early detection and treatment of cancer are critically important. Detecting oncological diseases in their initial stages significantly increases the chances of a full recovery.
It is encouraging to see that this campaign is supported by many medical institutions, not only in Australia, the USA, Canada, and Europe but also in Ukraine. Among the medical institutions actively raising awareness about the importance of annual urological screenings is the flagship of the state onco-urology service, the Clinic of Plastic and Reconstructive Onco-Urology of the National Cancer Institute. We can only say one thing—you are doing an amazing job! Together, we can achieve even more!
"Movember" in the "Dobrobut" Medical Network
During "Movember," the "Dobrobut" medical network:
- Distributed hundreds of informational brochures and business cards about the campaign.
- Provided consultations to nearly 1,000 patients, emphasizing the importance of regular screening.
- Most importantly, spread the crucial message that early detection of cancer can save lives.

- Determine whether additional diagnostics are needed.
- Most importantly—provide timely treatment if necessary.
